Easy Strawberry Jam

Jam might seem like too obvious a use for your excess strawberries, but you won’t find a more satisfying bite. Don’t skip the lemon juice: It’s crucial in helping the jam come together.

Equipment

  • cutting board
  • Paring Knife
  • sauce pan
  • spoon
  • sterilized jars

Ingredients

  • 2 cups strawberries sliced (approx)
  • 2-3 tbsp water
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 vanilla pod halved, lengthwise and scraped
  • 1 ¼ cups jam sugar

Instructions

  • In saucepan over medium to medium-high heat, combine strawberries, water, lemon juice and vanilla pod and seeds; reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring a few times.
  • Add sugar and continue to cook, stirring, for 2 to 3 minutes. Discard vanilla pod.
  • Pour into sterilized jars. Let cool. Refrigerate until ready to enjoy.
