The popularity of Kentucky bourbon is no longer creeping across the Canadian border, it’s sprinting. With that, the variety of bourbons available to choose from is constantly on the rise. Ezra Brooks is expanding its offerings with the release of their new product, Ezra Brooks 99, a higher-proof bourbon for the modern bourbon lover.
Why higher proof?
It’s all about balance. Higher-proof bourbons use less water and present bolder, more concentrated flavours suited to the ambitious bourbon lover. Sometimes, higher-proof options are considered less smooth (or “too hot”) but Lux Row Master Distiller John Rempe has mastered the balance, flavour and smoothness with Ezra Brooks 99.
Does proof change flavour?
Ezra Brooks 99 has a mash bill of 10% rye, 78% corn and 12% malt. Using this high corn percentage gives the whiskey a sweet, caramel flavour that translates into smoothness. Notes of cherry, vanilla, coconut and dark chocolate are also present. The lower rye percentage means just the right subtle hint of spice.
Is Ezra Brooks 99 for cocktails or sipping?
Some may say that bourbon is best consumed in its purest form, neat. But, paired properly, with ingredients that support the flavour profile of the bourbon, it can play both a supporting and starring role in a great cocktail. Ezra Brooks 99 is a polished, refined and affordable option to enjoy neat, on the rocks, with a splash or in a cocktail.
Ezra’s Got the Blues
This higher-proof pure, oak-barrel-aged Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey is charcoal-filtered for a smooth, mellow finish. The bold flavours of caramel and vanilla pair beautifully with the blueberry syrup, and the cinnamon compliments the subtle rye spice of the whisky.
