5 wacky Pinterest food trends to look out for in 2025

From Rococo cakes to pickle martinis, prepare for an existential year.
Did you know that nearly half a billion people come to Pinterest every month to look for inspiration and ideas for everything from fashion to recipes? That’s why when Pinterest Canada announced their trend predictions for 2025, we sat up and took notice.
Because of the huge volume of users on the platform, Pinterest has a unique opportunity to get insights into what people are searching for. By analyzing year-over-year growth, Pinterest finds patterns in search terms, and then curates those findings into their Pinterest Predicts 2025 Future-looking report.

Trend 1: Chaos Cakes

After years of seeing aspirational and pristine cakes on every social media feed, the tide is turning. Less is now more – as in “less precision” in piped icing, “more child-like” decorating ideas.

This doesn’t mean that we’ve ventured into Netflix’s Nailed It reality baking series territory, where cakes not only look terrible, but are also inedible. Chaos cakes are only meant to LOOK silly.

Trend 2: Rebel Floats

From retro-looking labels to mood-enhancing ingredients, the world of soda pop has had a makeover. In fact, some even say soda can actually be good for you. No matter what part of soda culture you think is interesting (cream soda aesthetic?), there’s still nothing better than an old-school ice cream float.

First, there will be those creative flavour combinations – we see you pickle margaritas –and then, the terrible puns. Pickle de Gallo? A dill-icious year?
So why pickles? Part of the appeal of pickles is the brine they’re packaged in. Depending on the pickles, the brine can be salty, sweet, vinegary or variations of all three.
