Fiddler’s Green Melon and Irish Gin Cocktail

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with this festive green Irish gin cocktail.

On St. Patrick’s Day, people tend to celebrate with a pint (or more) of Guinness. But there are lots of ways to celebrate, including raising a glass of non-alcoholic stout or Irish red ale instead. If St. Patrick’s Day cocktails are more your speed, this Fiddler’s Green Melon and Gin drink is perfect for you. It’s fruity and sweet from the melon liqueur, which perfectly complements the floral notes in the Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish gin. The festive green colour makes it perfect for saying slàinte with.

This cocktail also makes a big visual impact. Instead of ice, which could water down your drink, the glass is filled with frozen balls of honeydew melon. The drink itself comes together quick. Simply combine Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish gin, honeydew liqueur, lemon juice and honey syrup. Pour into a glass, top with soda and it’s ready to serve.

Before you start

  • The honeydew melon balls need to be frozen overnight. Make sure to prepare this step ahead of time, so they’re ready to go when your cocktail is complete.
  • There are lots of melon liqueurs on the market, but we would recommend the McGuinness Melon Liqueur or Midori Melon Liqueur to make this striking St. Patrick’s Day cocktail.
