Canadian cousins, celeb influencers and bestselling cookbook authors Jillian Harris and Tori Wesszer know that it can get pretty cold when the seasons change up north – but they have the perfect cure. “Steaming mugs of fresh apple cider (unfiltered fresh apple juice) are lightly sweetened with Canadian maple syrup and given a little kick thanks to a splash of bourbon,” they write in this recipe, shared in their new cookbook, Fraiche Food, Fuller Hearts.
Hot Apple Cider
- 2 cups fresh apple cider
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 2 oz bourbon whisky
- cinnamon sticks to garnish
- dried apple rings to garnish
- In a small saucepan, combine the apple cider and maple syrup and heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until hot. Stir in the whisky and pour into mugs.
- Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a dried apple ring. Serve steaming hot.
