The best Aperol Spritz glasses for 2026

The right glasses for serving Italy's iconic aperitivo cocktail.

People who love Aperol Spritzes drink them year-round, but summer is when the iconic Italian aperitivo really shines. Bright, bittersweet and lightly effervescent, the cocktail combines Aperol, Prosecco and soda water into something refreshing, citrusy and easy to sip slowly during Italian aperitivo hour.

As trendy as Aperol Spritzes may seem, they’re hardly new. The cocktail has been a staple of Italian drinking culture for decades and remains one of the most recognizable spritz cocktail s in the world. Learn more about the history of the Aperol Spritz here.

What is the Ratio for an Aperol Spritz?

The classic Aperol Spritz recipe follows a simple 3-2-1 ratio:

  • 3 parts Prosecco
  • 2 parts Aperol
  • 1 part soda water

Served over ice with a slice of orange, it’s one of the easiest cocktails to make at home.

What Kind of Glass Should You Use for an Aperol Spritz?

There isn’t one official spritz glass, but oversized wine glasses for bold red wines, like Pomerol or Burgundy, are traditionally preferred. Oversized bowls leave room for ice, sparkling wine and citrus garnish while helping preserve the cocktail’s bubbles and aromatics.

Here are four things to look for when choosing the right glass for your spritz:

  • A comfortable, sturdy stem: Holding the glass by the stem helps keeps the cocktail cold.
  • A large bowl: Larger bowls leave room for ice, sparkling wine and lemon or orange citrus wheel. While there isn’t one specific Aperol Spritz glass, Pomerol, Burgundy or Nebbiolo are especially well-suited to spritz cocktails.
  • Generous capacity. Look for glasses that hold at least 450 mL. Oversized bowls in the 550-700 mL range are ideal for Aperol Spritzes, allowing enough space for ice, bubbles and garnish without overcrowding the drink.
  • Delicate rim: Using thin lead-free crystal helps maintain the cocktail’s bright, crisp flavour.
  • Dishwasher-safe durability: Many modern crystal glasses are scratch-resistant and dishwasher-safe, though the should still be handled carefully.

Of course, Aperol does make its own branded spritz glass, but for now it’s only available in Europe. While sturdier than many traditional wine glasses, some could argue that the large logo detracts from the cocktail’s signature orange hue.
